After Farmer Brown leaves his farm in care of his brother Bob, the mischievous Duck gets special treatment for the farm animals with his paper and pencil. The straight forward third person narration join with the humorous, bright, cartoon like illustrations to give us a funny story of tricking the sitter. The illustrations were done using black watercolor on tracing paper. The drawings were then photocopied onto watercolor paper and watercolor washes were applied until the illustrator got the finish she liked best.
Activities: Discuss who has been left at home with a grandma, aunt, babysitter, etc. What things happened different? Did you try to get away with other things? What about when a substitute comes to class?
